Remove Icons from Desktop

Yes, most definitely.  ;-)  As when I typed "gconf", before, I really
should have typed "gconf-editor".  Lazy typing fingers strike again!  

It appears as "Configuration Editor" in the Gnome Applications / System
Tools menu.

Using FC 4, 5, 6 & 7, plus CentOS 5.  Today, it's FC7.
