I use it at home.  I love it.  I've been looking for a good groupware solution for years and this is the first one that's satisfied my needs.  I'm a real geek (just ask my wife); I'm using a solution for two people that could run an enterprise.

The product is solid.  My wife uses it with the Outlook plugin and hasn't had any problems at all.  I was using the evolution plugin but when I upgraded to Fedora 7, I couldn't get it to work right b/c the version of Evolution was too new.  I haven't tried recently because I've been using the IMAP for Evolution and the web client for any group calendaring / contacts.

The web interface is very nice.  It looks almost like the new interface for M$ Outlook Web Access.  It's better than what M$ had in OWA 2000.  

The only problem that I've had with the web interface is that every so often it seems like the tomcat / java (server side) goes into a loop and runs too long.  I get an option to allow the script to continue or stop.  I usually click "stop" but after that, my firefox is a little bit wonky and I usually end up closing just the Scalix browser window and re-logging in.  However, this could be due to a whole bunch of different things:  firefox, not enough memory dedicated to Java on the server, etc. etc.  I have not verified that this problem exists if you're using IE as the client.  I've never lost any data because of it and it doesn't happen so frequently to bother me much.

Since I'm doing this just as a hobby / for personal use, I can't say much about working with the company.  I am using only the community edition and only have 2 premium users (below the limit of 25 before having to pay).  However, I can say that the forums and the community are a great help.  They've helped solve a number of problems or at least pointed me in the right direction.
