DNS configuration

I am trying to set up DNS on my fedora 7 box.  However, when I type
‘nslookup nameserver.my.testdomain’, I get the following output:

Server: 127.0.0.1
Address:  127.0.0.1#53

** server can’t find nameserver.my.testdomain: NXDOMAIN
Does anyone know why this is happening and how I can fix it?
