Kernel Panic / Crash, Kdump no help

I've been trying to figure out why my new F7 system crashes several
times in a day. Sometimes Scroll Lock and Caps Lock flash: I've read
this indicates a kernel panic. There's never anything
in /var/log/messages. I edited syslog.conf to put kernel messages
into /var/log/kernel but got nothing. I tried to follow the instructions
at: http://fedoraproject.org/wiki/FC6KdumpKexecHowTo but kexec does not
not bypass the BIOS when I 'echo "c" > /proc/sysrq-trigger'. No file is
created in /var/crash/

Does anybody have any suggestions?
