I am having problems with the Nvidia driver from Livna for kernel
2.6.21-1.3228.fc7.

I changed to run level 3, installed the two packages:

yum install kmod-nvidia xorg-x11-drv-nvidia

...

This installed these two packages:

[root at phoenix X11]# pre nvidia
kmod-nvidia-100.14.09-1.2.6.21_1.3228.fc7
xorg-x11-drv-nvidia-100.14.09-2.lvn7

I then tried the driver:

[root at phoenix ~]# service nvidia status
nvidia.ko for kernel 2.6.21-1.3228.fc7 was not found.
The nvidia driver will not be enabled until one is found.
[root at phoenix ~]# nvidia-config-display enable
Driver already enabled.
[root at phoenix ~]# service nvidia status
nvidia.ko for kernel 2.6.21-1.3228.fc7 was not found.
The nvidia driver will not be enabled until one is found.

The modules should be installed:

[root at phoenix X11]# rpm -ql kmod-nvidia-100.14.09-1.2.6.21_1.3228.fc7 | xargs ls -ald
drwxr-xr-x 2 root root 4096 2007-06-19 13:55 /lib/modules/2.6.21-1.3228.fc7/extra/nvidia
-rw-r--r-- 1 root root 7903696 2007-06-14 05:02 /lib/modules/2.6.21-1.3228.fc7/extra/nvidia/nvidia.ko

Modprobe fails:

[root at phoenix X11]# modprobe nvidia.ko
FATAL: Module nvidia.ko not found.

(In spite of this, when the system boots, the nvidia driver installer
reports success, which does not help diagnosis.)

What am I missing?
