installation frm dvd suceeded, stopped by kernel panic

On another machine I have, I tried the DVD text based
install, did not meet requirement of 512 - have the
512 but shared video so in reality 512 - 64.  

Here's how it went

loding pata_via, sata_via, usbhi?   

Error

An error occurred unmounting the cd.   please make
sure you're not accessing /mnt/souce from the shell on
tty2 and then click OK to retry.  

Tried again and sucessfully completed partioning
questions, grub, etc.  selected packages and proceeded

Dependency Check
Checking dependencies in packages selected for
installation.  

Text based Install.
Removed all partitions
Blanked out all the disks.
F7-i386-DVD.iso

Upon the reboot, the screen is going fast and I
thought to myself a few more clicks and I'm done, but
it wasn't meant to me

Any ideas on how to proceed with this machine?

Have run FC3, FC5 up to kernel 2.6.17-1.2174_FC5, then
installed fc6 and ran sucessfully up to now.  Thanks
