Unless you have SATA disks which are /dev/sdx already. I lucked out with
an upgrade via yum since my Dell had devices mounted vs. LABEL=.

Why my system did not recognize the DVD drive which it booted from is
beyond my comprehension. It is just as well the installer did not work
since there were many items which were not on the DVD like mc, k3b and
other programs like screensavers.

You may have a lot of conflicts with a non-networked local repository
yum upgrade. It is workable since the computer was upgraded through at
least three Fedora versions. (Mainy via yum.)

Have at it, but don't forget to check device references in fstab and in
grub.conf.

If you have a drive which is effected by the hard drive protected area,
add the information in the highly discussed bug report to modprobe.conf
before allowing the kernel to become installed. On another installation,
I did not add the information to modprobe.conf before the upgrade and
ended up with a kernel panic. If adding the information to modprobe.conf
before you upgrade works, let me know. Personal email or to the list is
fine. I just unbugged the disk, installed F7 to it, switched my
development version to F7 and then switched my fresh install over to
development. The development verson was so well setup and the fresh
install version was so lacking that it worked out for the best.
