F7: Laptop suspend

	I have a Dell Inspiron 9400.  When it used F6 it "noticed" the
lid switch, and did suspend.  With F7 nothing happens.  Also when I
experiment with pm-suspend and various "quirk" parameters, I always get
to a blank screen except for this message:

	stopping tasks  .....  done
	Suspending console(s)

I note that various sub-directories of /etc/pm/ have no files.  I don't
know what to do from here. Perhaps someone could guide me.
