With all due respect, I am not exactly sure what you are trying to accomplish.

For your first issue, if you were willing to maintain your own FC4,
then no one is stopping you from using FC4. Some people run older (I
have an updated FC2). As for FC6 and F7 both are supported directly by
Fedora and FC6 will be supported for a while. Again, no one forced you
one way or the other.

As for your second issue, many people provided you multiple different
solutions for setting up Firefox and Thunderbird from Fedora, from 3rd
party repositories or even Mozilla directly. Either you did not read
those email responses or you just chose to ignore them. You created
several repetitive threads. There is a list archive that is easy to
access.

As for your third issue. Someone explained that ALSA provides a library, kernel
interface and kernel drivers. ALSA is not something that exists
entirely by itself. Most environments (KDE, Gnome, etc.) as well as
multimedia applications have mixer and sound settings that simplify to
what you need. If you have a direct problem with something specific to
ALSA a quick web search would provide you better avenues to work out
your problems.
As for Skype and for anything closed source, Fedora realistically
cannot support such applications.

Don't take this the wrong way, but by "staying and adding to the
soup", I really hope your thoughts are comments are based on proper
research and understanding of how Fedora and Linux actually work.
