splitting off directories

I am in the process of doing this and I plan on setting up

/
/boot
/tmp
/swap
/home
/var
/usr


home is the only LVM and this is to allow me to add to the space without 
trying to figure out who should get what.  As more and more digital 
files get put on the machine, it makes it harder to add space and say 
XXGig to here and YYgig to there.

I am looking at encryption for /tmp /swap /var and /home.  Mainly for 
the laptop in case it is stolen.

This is the breakdown on my work machine.

Some partitions are larger than normal due to some of my work.  I like 
to put some things in tmp to make sure they get removed from time to time.

It isn't uncommon to have 20 gig of tmp files generated for a project 
that I am working with.
