All,

I am running Fedora 7 on laptop with Intel Core 2 Duo machine with a
Sata Disk.

# lsmod | grep ata
ata_piix 25541 4
ata_generic 17861 0
libata 131689 2 ata_piix,ata_generic
scsi_mod 165241 4 sr_mod,sg,libata,sd_mod

The hdparm reports a slow disk.

]# hdparm -Tt /dev/sda

/dev/sda:
  Timing cached reads: 5222 MB in 2.00 seconds = 2617.12 MB/sec
  Timing buffered disk reads: 102 MB in 3.02 seconds = 33.82 MB/sec

Wondering if there is a way to improve the SATA disk performance.

Thanks in advance

Srikanth
