How to upgrade from RH8 to FC? Is it safe?

It is a nightmare at times to upgrade at all, so many of us advise a
fresh install from one FC version to the next. "Upgrading" from RH to FC
is asking for a very interesting experience. I sure wouldn't do it, but
YMMV. Ric
