There's an user script for greasemonkey that changes youtube pages in
order to let you use mplayerplugin for viewing inside the browser.

There's also a few firefox extensions that allow you to download the
video, and then you can play it with mplayer!

I hate flash video, but at least with this options I'm not "out of the
loop" :)
