problems w/drives and fc6 (still)

I'm using Gnome; I can't give you more info, because I don't know what 
to tell you. My Gnome desktop is/was set up the same as my Windows 
boxes-- trash, (my) Computer and John's Home (My Doc). I -don't- use 
programs like Konqueror or Windows Explorer; personally I think they're 
kinda lame. Like I said, I click on the Computer icon on the desktop, 
then click on the Dev folder; which to me, is like clicking on the 
Programs (or any other named folder) in Windows.

IDE; though last week, I attached an IDE dvd player via a ide-usb cable.

I've been coming across folders or pref settings that tell me I don't 
have the permission (or some bs) when I try to change a setting. Just 
curious if SELinux was doing something (guess not?).

I booted the box into KDE this time and everything seems to working 
well; I have cd/floppy access. I haven't used KDE since I was messing 
with Knoppix. It'll probably take a few days for me to get the feel of 
things again.
