"Nothing to be done for bzImage..."

I decided to try 'make rpm' which created the kernel rpm which I installed.
I then ran ' new-kernel-pkg --mkinitrd --depmod --install
2.6.18-build-1'  which  created my initrd and added an entry to my
grub.conf file.However on rebooting , the new kernel failed to load
with the  same error message as before :
"Error 13:Invalid or unsupported executable format
 Press any key to continue....."

Pressing any key redirects me back to the grub menu, and selecting the
older kernel still works.
Maybe the source rpm  I downloaded
(kernel-2.6.18-1.2798.fc6.src.rpm)is wrong ?When I did

$rpm -qa --queryformat "%{NAME}-%{VERSION}-%{RELEASE}.%{ARCH}\n"|grep
kernel|sort

I got :
kernel-headers-2.6.18-1.2798.fc6.i386
kernel-xen-2.6.18-1.2798.fc6.i686

for the currently installed kernel(i.e the one installed by
Anaconda).Isn't kernel-2.6.18-1.2798.fc6.src.rpm is the correct source
rpm , right?
