Minicom cant get info from /dev/ttyS0 and ttyS1

I am having the same symptons, but the error message was insufficient 
permissions. 6 months ago (fc5) I was able to get this going. I cant 
remember if I changed the permissions of the ttyS0 or what to get it to 
work ???

But I can't get it to work now.

Hopefully this triggers someones memory ?
