Installing ATI drivers

I installed ATI's proprietary drivers, but when I try to run the setup
it complains that it cannot find the configuration file:

[root at localhost ~]# aticonfig --initial
Warning: Could not find configuration file
Please copy configuration file template to /etc/X11
[root at localhost ~]# aticonfig --initial --input=/etc/X11/xorg.conf
Warning: Could not find configuration file
Please copy configuration file template to /etc/X11

What am I doing wrong?
