Yes, I've been told as well that FC5 was more stable than FC6.  In fact, I 
personally noticed that at the beginning, the Xorg server in FC6 had an 
annoying tendency to crash... a lot.

As for package update problems, I have not noticed any in Fedora itself; it's 
mainly third party repos.
