The simple minded approach is to run everything through a caching web
proxy like squid configured to store large files. Then you don't have
to make a special setup to copy every version and flavor of distribution
that might need the same file more than once. Yum just needs to be
fixed to not randomize the source repo to defeat cache mechanisms.
