How to get mail to local destinations delivered?

Try sending an entire message?  Type the following:

$ telnet 127.0.0.1 25
helo localhost.localdomain
mail from: home at locahost
rcpt to: root
data
test message
.
quit

(I'm not sure what name you should use for "home".)
