Agreed. And why personally I don't think NM should drop wired support,
as has been suggested. The fact it handles all combination of
wired/wireless connections in (at least as far as I am concerned, YMMV)
a sane way is one of its strengths, not a weakness.

That said it is also perfectly clear that NM does not work for a lot of
hardware, and that does need fixing somehow...
