Many people (including me) want to try to keep as much of their software as
possible installed through rpm.  That's the point of running a rpm-based
distribution, after all.

Running random bash scripts to install stuff is ok if there is no other way to
do it, but "Strange women lying in ponds distributing swords is no basis for a
system of government."
