F8 install hangs

All I know is that it makes it work.  I don't know why it is so hard 
to fix.  That was a blocker for F8 but it got cut loose.  I couldn't 
load F7 because of that problem either.  I've been burning new 
rawhide boot.iso disks like I owned a disk plant every time they said 
they had it fixed.
