So did I. A (big) couple of packages seem to be missing from f8 I had to
add them from f7 repositories.

Moreover, while installing if you choose to customize your install, you
don't have a "great choice" of packages; for instance, you can install
emacs, but not emacs-nox, emacs-auctex,... same for latex, but not
ams-latex....

why?
