The options being suggested which work around problems are those which
disable/avoid various hardware ad BIOS level system features that are not
working properly.

Similarly it looks very much that grub fails on these boxes because of
problems with those boxes not with grub.

Doesn't mean it wouldn't be nice to find workarounds, but it isn't simply
a driver problem.
