Thanks, I don't know how I missed that.
It is provided by the Fedora kernel,
but I hadn't loaded it.
Now I have I see lots of stuff in /proc/acpi/ibm ,
so I've added "/sbin/modprobe thinkpad_acpi" to rc.local .

I did look there, but didn't see any mention of Fedora,
at least in connection with tp_smapi.
