I just browsed http://mirror.newnanutilities.org/pub/fedora/linux/core/updates/
and directories for Fedora 5 and 6 are present. I didn't do anything
different from the last visit. I have no idea why the directories were
not available of 5 days ago.

Is 1&1 your ISP? Are you saying that they blocked your use of FTP and HTTP?
