Can't compile Fortran in Fedora 7: Solved

Thank you all.  I found the gcc and Fortran documentation misleading.  I
understand now how to do the compile.  Apparently gfortran will compile f77
as well as modern variants which is good because some of the programs I need
to modify go back to the late 1980s.
