How can I prevent terminal boot messages from being cleared

I don't think it will.  In run level 5, the system will switch over from
console one to console seven, at some point.  When that happens, you
lose the scroll back on console one.

Using FC 4, 5, 6 & 7, plus CentOS 5.  Today, it's FC7.
