Emacs Configuration & Emacs Splash Screen

Hi Again, 
Sorry to update my own thread but I forgot to include the emacs version
of my system. Its details are as follows:

[tony at localhost attempt4]$ rpm -qa | grep emacs
xemacs-common-21.5.28-3.fc7
emacs-common-22.1-4.fc7
xemacs-packages-base-20061221-1.fc7
emacs-22.1-4.fc7
xemacs-21.5.28-3.fc7
