Sorry to be brutal, but why do you want to write a "manual"?

To my mind, a manual is a document written by someone who is expert
in a subject, not someone who has just got some application to work.

Your musing may perhaps make an interesting blog-like article,
but you are deluding yourself if you think you are in a position
to write a "grub manual".
