Sounds like my problem that turned out to be a failing power supply. 
The problem may only show up during the DVD/CD burn process.  I had a 
drive replaced under warranty but the new drive still had an issue.

My 5V rail was dropping.  Two power supplies from the same company that 
had the same 5V rail dropping issue.
