The other thing to check is if it was installed enabled or disabled.
Most services get installed disabled now, and you have to enable
them. You can use chkconfig or the services GUI to turn it on.
(Chkconfig will change the file in /etc/xinetd.d to enable it, and
restart xinetd.)
