Can't change file assoc (f7, kde)

fedora f7 kdebase-3.5.7-13

After installing acroread, I can't seem to change file assoc for pdf to kpdf.  
In konq/settings/file assoc/, I can find application/pdf.  I can then change 
the order.  But when I hit apply, it doesn't work.  Says 'updating system 
config', shows no error. If I repeat this process, the order isn't changed - 
Adobe Reader 8 is still on top!
