Apart from watching TV on a computer being an awful way to watch TV
(noise, crashes, configuration, compatibility, tying up an expensive
computer to a single task), it doesn't resolve the main problems:

That you want to just watch TV on a TV, any TV, without having to
bothered by technicalities.  And you don't want to junk the existing
sets that you have in your home.
