Yum Failure with mirrors unavailable

Everyone,

I have an FC8 unit that for some reason has stopped allowing yum
updates.  

unname -a results in :

Linux XXXX.Domain.com 2.6.25.10-47.fc8 #1 SMP Mon Jul 7 18:31:41 EDT
2008 x86_64 x86_64 x86_64 GNU/Linux

When I tried to do so manually with the command :

yum update

I receive the follow error message:

Determining fastest mirrors
Could not retrieve mirrorlist
http://mirrors.fedoraproject.org/mirrorlist?repo=fedora-8&arch=x86_64
error was
[Errno 14] HTTP Error 503: Service Unavailable

Has this happened to anyone else?
