Mogens,

Hmm, I get:

[root at xena ~]# lsmod|fgrep snd
snd_hda_intel 446028 0
snd_seq_dummy 11524 0
snd_seq_oss 38976 0
snd_seq_midi_event 14976 1 snd_seq_oss
snd_seq 58096 5 snd_seq_dummy,snd_seq_oss,snd_seq_midi_event
snd_seq_device 15380 3 snd_seq_dummy,snd_seq_oss,snd_seq
snd_pcm_oss 45088 0
snd_mixer_oss 22912 1 snd_pcm_oss
snd_pcm 79752 2 snd_hda_intel,snd_pcm_oss
snd_timer 28432 2 snd_seq,snd_pcm
snd_page_alloc 16656 2 snd_hda_intel,snd_pcm
snd_hwdep 16264 1 snd_hda_intel
snd 63608 10
snd_hda_intel,snd_seq_dummy,snd_seq_oss,snd_seq,snd_seq_device,snd_pcm_oss,snd_mixer_oss,snd_pcm,snd_timer,snd_hwdep
soundcore 14864 1 snd

Should I be worried that your "snd_hda_intel" count is 3, but mine is 0?

When I click on the volume control applet, it says "No volume control
GStreamer plugins and/or devices found".

When I click on "Test" in the "Sound Events" section of system
preferences I get "audiotestsrc wave=sine freq=512 ! audioconvert !
audioresample ! gconfaudiosink: Failed to connect stream: Invalid argument".

Do you see anything wrong here?

- Mike
