I just set 
DISPLAYMANAGER="KDE"
in /etc/sysconfig/desktop

and then init 3;init 5 or a reboot

I have this in mine
Pretty sure that its not all necessary !!

tarifa ~ 1001# cat /etc/sysconfig/desktop 
DISPLAYMANAGER="KDE"
WINDOWMANAGER="XFCE"
DISPLAY="KDE"
DESKTOP="XFCE"
