DHCP trouble with cable modem

One thing that may help is if he specifies a DHCP_HOSTNAME is the 
ifcfg-<interface> file. I believe the GUI offers this option. If 
not, you can edit the file yourself. But you will probably have to 
find what the Windows box is using.
