how would you backup 1TB of data to dvds?

A fire safe is absolutely the wrong place to keep media like disks and tapes
and so on.

Fire safes work on the principle that they release steam when exposed to a
fire.  That steam is intended to keep the contents of the safe from catching on
fire, obviously, but the safe is designed to protect paper records and the steam
is hot enough to melt and destroy digital media.

In the event of a very minor fire, your DVD's would stand a better chance of
survival sitting on a shelf beside your fire safe than they would in the fire
safe itself.  In the event of a major fire, of course, the only way they'll
survive is if you have them in a media safe.  Yes, they do exist but they will
cost you a lot more money than a generic fire safe.
