Optical drive not seen when hotplugged to Dell D810's bay

Hello there,

when I replace (hotplug) the secondary battery of my D810 with the
CD/DVD writer, my Fedora 8 doesn't seem to acknowledge this hardware
change. To make the optical drive recognized by the system, I have to
get it plugged to the bay at boot time.

I tried restarting haldaemon, and even a rescan_scsi_bus.sh, but the
drive is not seen when hotplugged in.

Any hint how I workaround that without rebooting each time?

Status of the seconday battery and other power supplues are correctly
acknowledged when I hotplug it.

Regards,
