LVM failure with Live CD

I'm trying to install the Fedora-8 Live CD
onto a hard drive already partitioned with LVM
(/dev/sdb3 = /boot, /dev/sdb4 is divided into LVM partitions).

Unfortunately, the Live CD boot does not activate
the LVM partitions, and so does not see the root partition.

I'm wondering if there is a way round this?

(I do have Fedora-8 running on this machine, on /dev/sda,
if that is any help.)
