Optical drive not seen when hotplugged to Dell D810's bay

Is the controlled set up as AHCI or ICH/PIIX (what does dmesg say)

It may be neccessary to run ACPI methods as well. A rescan works for the
newer IBM systems but I don't know about the Dell boxes.
