As others have said, this is probably unwise.
But why do you want to do it, as a matter of interest?
In my experience there is very little if any advantage
in running x86_64 over i386.
I tried it on an AMD64 machine, and didn't notice any increase in speed.

Maybe if you are doing some hard number-crunching, it might make sense.
