fc8 how to stop gui pop-up notifications of available updates??

It would appear that on Feb 9, Tim did say:

I already mentioned that I "unchecked" it... Though as somebody pointed
out I might not have clicked on some save button... <sigh>

Anyway removing the links to yum-updatesd from all the /etc/rc.d
directories seems to have solved that part of the problem...
