It doesn't take much in terms of speakers to tell the difference though.
I would hardly call the ear buds that Apple supplies with their iPods as
high quality reproduction and I can hear the difference between 128 bit
mp3 and 128 bit aac. I don't use mp3 at all (though I could up the
sampling rate I know).
