How can mplayer play rmvb video file

Does it look in "/usr/lib/codecs/"?
Here, I'm using /usr/local/lib/codecs/ and /usr/local/lib/win32/. One
of them is actually a symlink to the other, I haven't got two copies of
each codec, one in each directly.
