f8 - lose keyboard when running ktorrent

for some strange or other, i lose keyboard when i am running ktorrent.

_all_ keys are dead. mouse still works. but that does not help when i do not
get a log out window after clicking 'log out', and need to <ctrl+alt+bs> to
exit kde.

any ideas or suggestions of what to check or look for?
