Checking CPU temperature

Hmm.  You don't have ACPI on your system at all?  YOu might want to poke 
around /proc, that metric may be located in a slightly different 
location than mine, but on all my systems (laptops, desktop, Fedora or 
Gentoo) it's in that location.
