KDE logout/shutdown problem

Hello,

It was last January, the problem is that on logout,
KDE leaves a process 'startkde' zombie. So GDM doesn't restart.
Of course root can log and solve. But what's in a controlled
environment, where users don't have root access.

I tried to read, but there are many many comments, and I don't
see any real solution.

So my question: is there a clear solution?
